The Doughboy was created in the late 80s by Mike Olson when snowboarding was still rapidly evolving, and no one knew where we were headed except Jamie Lynn. A great leap forward for mankind... Gnu was credited by TWS mag as being the first brand to market deep carving sidecuts intended for resort hardpack terrain, which was a critical step as snowboards evolved from finned backcountry powder designs only, to modern all terrain “directional device” resort atvs. Something Gnu takes the inspiration of Mike Olsons early 80s’ finless designs and adds in all we have learned over the past 40 years of Gnu board building.
